I’ve been playing a new game (free, browser based) for a couple of weeks now called Highgrounds. It’s a pretty neat turn-based strategy, feels a little like a drafting/deck-building card game (ala Dominion, Eminent Domain). The up side is it is free, and you can play live, or play-by-mail. The down side is aside from the few units you earn in the single-player campaign getting new units either costs money or is very-very slow. My username there is jthurteau as well if anyone wants to battle ;)

MODERN GAMES AS ATARI CARTRIDGES (Part 1)
Shortly after posting this first batch of modern games with an 8bit twist back in July the deviantART account that created them was deactivated and it seemed our days of modern/Atari art were over.
Now all that’s changed because the artist has created a new deviantART account and has uploaded a ton of new cartridges that they’ve designed. My favorite is the Fallout 3 one. That dog in the capsule has no idea what kind of trouble it’s in.
Visit StarRoivas on deviantART to see their complete collection of Atari art.
All but a couple of these are excellent! (two are just copies of the original game cover)
I fucking love mario party for these exact reasons
There is much wisdom to be found here.
